Indian Business Chamber in Vietnam and Foreign Investment Agency - Ministry of Investment and Planning (MPI) organized an economic Meeting and MOU signing ceremony at Sheraton Hotel Hanoi on October 25th, 2017.
Mr. Do Nhat Hoang, Director General of the Foreign Investment Department, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, noted that the economic cooperation between the two countries has seen remarkable progress, especially the growth of InCham in recent years. The two countries have similar levels of economic development, Vietnam and India share the desire to soon become an industrial, democratic, civilized and prosperous country.
At the meeting, Mr. Vu Quang Minh, Assistant Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highly appreciated the longstanding traditional friendship between the two countries, fostered by President Ho Chi Minh and the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. During the visit to Vietnam by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2016, the two countries have embraced the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which is the political foundation shaping bilateral relations in all aspects in the future. He also expressed his hope that the two countries will further strengthen their investment promotion activities, launch more initiatives, expand cooperation and investment, and make more use of their potential for development and enhancement of relations between the two countries.
Mr. Harish Parvathaneni, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India in Vietnam, said the 10th 2017 celebrate the establishment of the strategic partnership between the two countries and evaluate the trade and investment cooperation between the two sides. It is not compatible with the traditional friendship and good strategic relationship as well as the inherent potential of each party. Ambassador Harish Parvathaneni said that the two sides need more determination and efforts to realize the goal of raising the total two-way trade over 15 billion by 2020.
InCham President Neeraj Malik commented, "The MOU signed is an opportunity to further promote Indian business investment in Vietnam and investment by Vietnamese businesses in India. The event held in cooperation with the Foreign Investment Agency, the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the InCham in cooperation with the two countries' business communities in the areas of agriculture, energy and information technology, metallurgy, automobiles, etc., thus contributing to further strengthening the bilateral cooperation.
