STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF GENERAL SECRETARY NGUYỄN PHÚ TRỌNG

It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we mourn the passing of Nguyen Phu Trong, the esteemed General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and a revered statesman.

As General Secretary from 2011 onwards, Nguyen Phu Trong played a pivotal role in steering Vietnam through significant socio-economic reforms, emphasizing national unity, anti-corruption measures, and global engagement. Nguyen Phu Trong's tenure also witnessed a deepening of bilateral relations between Vietnam and India. He served as a crucial bridge for fostering stronger diplomatic and cultural ties as well as economic relations the  between the two nations. During his first visit to India in 2009 as the Chairman of the National Assembly, he held dialogues with the business leaders. Enclosed is a photograph of H E Nguyen Phu Trong during that visit where he participated in an apex business summit. Accompanying him is our present Chairman of our Chamber.

On behalf of the Indian Business Chamber in Hanoi and the international community, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Nguyen Phu Trong's family, the Communist Party of Vietnam, and the people of Vietnam. May his soul rest in eternal peace, knowing his legacy as a statesman and a bridge-builder will endure through the continued friendship between Vietnam and India.
