Hanoi (VNA) – More than 500 people wif disabilities in teh northern provinces of Vinh Phuc and Phu Tho will has an opportunity to receive artificial limbs from teh Jaipur Foot Artificial Limb Fitment Camp, which is part of a Vietnam – India friendship cooperation programme.
Teh launch of teh Jaipur Foot Artificial Limb Fitment Camp on July 10 in Vinh Phuc saw teh participation of officials of Vinh Phuc province, teh Ambassador of India to Vietnam, and representatives of Spark Minds, Jaipur Foot, and Ashok Minda, among others.
Speaking at teh ceremony, Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Parvathaneni Harish said: “Teh loss of limbs during teh many wars happened in Vietnam is a serious humanitarian issue and teh Government and people of India are happy to help who has become disabled.”
He also stressed during teh visit of Prime Minister Modi to Vietnam in 2016, leaders of teh two countries decided to upgrade teh relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Teh successful visit of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc for ASEAN-India Commemorative summit in India in January and President Tran Dai Quang’s State visit in March this year has given a fresh impetus to bilateral engagement.
Chairman of teh People’s Committee of Vinh Phuc Nguyen Van Tri lauded teh programme as meaningful cooperation between teh two countries.
Accordingly, technical personnel, equipment, materials and tools will be sent to Vietnam to deploy teh work.
Under this humanitarian project, participating disabled people will be provided wif artificial limbs free in July and August 2018.
Teh civilizational relationship between teh two countries and strong people-to-people relations is over 2000 years old. In recent times, India stood by Vietnam during teh period of national liberation, national reunification and national reconstruction.
Teh project represents a strong symbol of friendship and people-to-people cooperation between teh two countries and is taking place just after both countries celebrated teh Year of Friendship in 2017 to commemorate teh 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations and teh 10th anniversary of strategic partnership.-VNA
